The only issue I see with this is ti’s cost. It’s way to high priced for the simplicity of the software.
Also it’s limited to three colors so you have nothing unique about your site which also is not cool in my opinion.
Right now I’m not ready to purchase but we will see what the near future brings. I was close to buying this right now but there’s some things that didn’t sit well with me.

Hello bbrian017, thanks for your comment. Like all other things on the web, you still have to do some work if you want to customize it in the way you want. WordPress is the perfect option for bloggers and webmasters because they can kick start their blog/website and share the content with others very quickly and dealing with the details and customization later. They want to post an article right now, not next week or next month when the website development is completed. They share the article now and tweak later.
It is the same with Nominate theme. People want to start the social bookmarking right now, not 2 months later when the designer send the psd files, when the slicing is done, the website is set-up and all other things that prevent a lot of people to start their blog or website.

I think this one is not the best choice for social bookmarking sites. I see many open source platform that can do better than nonimate, such as Pligg that Blogengage is using with tons of great templates out there. It is as easy as WordPress and we don’t have to pay money for it.

As i said in the article, the pligg is another option to build a social bookmarking website. The main problem of Nominate is that it is paid, but there is a great advantage: it is built on wordpress.
I hope that some folks will see that the social bookmarking is still popular and will build some free social bookmarking themes for wordpress.

Thought I’d add my comments here!
I’m definitely a strong WordPress user – I’m a 30yo combat veteran and when someone starts talking about databases and MySQL my eyes glaze over. And unfortunately, that’s something I encountered when I was exploring Pligg for my voting site options.
Nominate is a great theme. It is unfortunate that there is a lack of colors, but hardly a deal breaker, and I’m sure the theme has already had enough downloads to show it’s a feasible choice! It’s really a great, easy-to-use, and as he says – immediately functional theme.
I just finished up a site at http://FavTrip.com and am moving on to a social voting site I’ve had planned at PopularOS.com – unfortunately because of funds, I can’t use the WPVote theme and will have to make-do with a Vote It Up WordPress plugin or BuddyPress.
But still it’s great to see these options! Hopefully in the future I’ll be able to make a purchase!
